[Watch] ‘Unlucky’ Babar Azam Cleaned Up Off The Inside Edge By Taskin Ahmed

Many expected Babar Azam to go berserk in Pakistan's last home match of the Asia Cup on Wednesday (September 6). They were, however, devastated when the world's No.1-ranked ODI batsman departed cheaply against Bangladesh after scoring only 17 runs off 22 balls at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore. Although a wicket is always a wicket, Taskin Ahmed's success against the Pakistani captain was, to be fair, somewhat fortunate.

The third ball of the 16th over did not get as much bounce as it should have. Babar was also slow to react and was unable to tackle it before it struck the toe of his bat and dropped just before the stumps. As it continued to break the middle stump, Taskin and the Bangladesh players were fired up to dismiss the talismanic batsman. On the other hand, after that, there was silence among the fans inside the stadium.

However, despite Babar’s failure, Pakistan are still in control at the time of writing, batting on 90/2 in 19.3 overs, with Imam-ul-Haq and Mohammad Rizwan in the middle. While Imam is well-set on 41 off 50 balls, Rizwan is batting aggressively, on 11 off 14 balls.
