Colin Munro was in his true elements for Islamabad United on Wednesday (February 28) night in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024. The extravagant New Zealand and United opener hammered Karachi Kings for a match-winning knock of 82 off just 47 deliveries during the run-chase.

Relishing a flat batting surface at the National Stadium in Karachi, the swashbuckling left-hander made an absolute mockery of the home team's modest score of 165/5 by smashing the ball to all parts of the ground. Munro gave the ball the full monte for 8 fours and 4 sixes and pushed Islamabad towards a comprehensive seven-wicket triumph.

Of the four maximums that the T20 journeyman cricketer hit on the night for the United franchise, one particular stood-out for the sheer mastery wth the bat as Munro dispatched an attempted yorker from Kings pacer Hasan Ali for a maximum to the on-side.

Facing the experienced Pakistan pacer from around-the-wicket, Munro initially gave himself room to try and open up the off-side. But Hasan spotted that and tried to cramp the left-hander's hands by aiming for a yorker meant to thud into his front pad.

However, Munro was alert to the situation and flicked the ball tremendously for a six over the deep square leg region, exhibiting his indomitable nature as a T20 batter when in full flow. Hasan couldn't believe he was outsmarted by the Islamabad opener despite producing a well though-out yorker.

Munro's belligerence on the night helped United gun down the target of 167 with minimal fuss as they reached home with 7 wickets still intact and nearly two overs left in the run-chase.

The left-hander reinforced his impact value and gave United their second win of the season after five league stage encounters.
