Tim Southee bowled a beauty of a delivery to clean up a well-set Rassie van der Dussen on Wednesday (November 1) during New Zealand’s World Cup match against South Africa in Pune. The veteran Kiwi pacer, who came to play his first match in the ongoing edition, finished his spell with figures of 10-0-77-2.

Having scored 133 off 118 balls, van der Dussen was on a mission to finish things off in style for the Proteas. Coming to bowl the 48th over, Southee began with a sharp off-cutter against the South African top-order batsman, and the latter was beaten due to a lack of pace (116.1 kph).

The ball went on to rattle the middle stump, and in the process, van der Dussen’s excellent knock ended.

Having been put into bat, South Africa closed on 357/4 against the Black Caps, with Quinton de Kock and van der Dussen making headlines with entertaining centuries. David Miller and Heinrich Klaasen played breezy cameos as well, scoring 53 and 15* respectively, whereas skipper Temba Bavuma scored 24 off 28 balls.

For New Zealand, Trent Boult was the pick of the bowler, having claimed 1/49 off his 10 overs.
