Melbourne Renegades’ Indian import Harmanpreet Kaur plucked a stunning catch towards mid-off region to dismiss Sydney Thunder star Anika Learoyd in the penultimate over of the innings. Turning up for her side in match number 19 of the ongoing Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) 2023 season, Kaur also claimed two wickets in the innings to finish with match figures of 2-25 off her three overs.

Indian captain and Melbourne Renegades veteran Harmanpreet Kaur snared a sensational catch while running backwards during the penultimate over of the Sydney Thunder innings at Melbourne’s CitiPower Centre.

Thunder batter Anika Learoyd, in a bid to accumulate quick runs in the death overs, launched Renegades pacer Sarah Coyte in the 19th over, only to find a vigilant Harmanpreet Kaur at mid-off.

Earlier in the match, Harmanpreet Kaur also dismissed Sydney Thunder well-set batters Tahlia Wilson and Phoebe Litchfield against the run-of-play with her right-arm offbreaks. The Indian legend eventually finished with figures of 2-25 off her three overs, and emerged as the pick of the bowlers from her side as Thunder raced to 190-5 upfront.

Unfortunately for Kaur, her bowling dexterity and fielding brilliance were not enough to take Renegades to victory, as they fell 37 runs short of their target. The defeat also marked their third in succession as they slumped to number seven on the WBBL 2023 points table.
