Players often show their disappointment if they make a schoolboy errors when the stakes are hight. New Zealand's wicket-keeper batsman Tom Latham had the same feeling when he dropped a simple catch off Kusal Perera during the second over of the day against Sri Lanka in Match 41 of the World Cup 2023 at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.

However, Latham's regret did not last long as Tim Southee, the bowler who did not get the wicket because of Latham's mistake, got a wicket on the next delivery, and guess what, Latham was the one who took the catch this time around.

For Sri Lanka, it was Pathum Nissanka who had to walk back to the pavilion after a lowly eight-ball two.

It was a beautiful delivery by Southee which was a length delivery just outside the off stump. Nissanka tried to poke it, only to get a thin outside edge before the ball went straight to Latham's big gloves behind the stumps to ensure his departure.

At the time of writing, Sri Lanka in trouble, having slipped to 34/3 after five overs, with Kusal Mendis, Nissanka, and in-form Sadeera Samarawickrama back in the hut.
