[Watch] Ben Stokes Stands Tall Again; Smacks An ‘Audacious’ Six Against Bas de Leede

Despite watching batters collapse like packs of cards, Ben Stokes kept on standing tall on Wednesday (November 8) during England’s World Cup game against the Netherlands in Pune. The English all-rounder, who has been one of his side’s lone warriors in the ongoing edition, got to an excellent fifty against the Dutch side.

More significantly, the manner in which Stokes got to his milestone caught a lot of attention.

It was a full delivery by Bas de Leede during the 43rd over of England’s innings, which Stokes went for a stand-and-deliver shot to slam it over deep mid-wicket. The ball went straight to the stands, giving the impression that it was a handsome six because of the shot's impeccable timing.

Stokes raised his bat slowly after getting there, whereas the entire staff from the English dressing room stood up to applaud him.

Opting to bat, England rode on Stokes' magnificent knock to get to a respectable total after they slipped to 192/6 at one point. Stokes led by example, smashing 80* off just 69 balls as of writing, as England reached 270/6 after 45 overs.
