[Watch] Joe Root ‘Nutmegged’; Logan van Beek Cleans Him Up With A Beauty

Strange dismissals in cricket never cease to astound, and on Wednesday Joe Root lost his wicket in an unusual fashion during England's World Cup 2023 match against the Netherlands in Pune.

Since the Bazball took center stage, Root's reverse scoop has become a signature shot, even though he was not exactly a daring batsman before then. This shot is typically taken by him against fast bowlers, which adds to the spectacle for spectators.

However, Logan van Beek was too smart for Root on Wednesday, as the right-arm quick delivered an absolute beauty to get rid of the dangerous Englishman.

After watching Root’s premeditated stance, the Dutch pacer bowled at length towards the stump, putting the batsman in an awkward position. The ball went straight between Root’s legs before going on to break the middle stump.

While walking back to the pavilion, Root, after a sluggish 35-ball 28, continuously nodded his head, wondering he should not have attempted the shot against van Beek.

Meanwhile, England are in a strong position against the Dutch after opting to bat. They, as of writing, have reached 153/3 after 24.1 overs, with Harry Brook and Ben Stokes in the middle.
