Tilak Varma has been a livewire in the ongoing IPL match against the Kolkata Knight Riders. He has looked sharp and it gave him fruitful reward with the crucial wicket of Nitish Rana.

With the rain-curtailed match shortened to 16-overs per side, KKR needed a boost in their total and everything was going to plan when Andre Russell and Nitish Rana were taking the attack to the MI bowlers. However, one moment of brilliance from Tilak ended Rana's stay at the crease.

Tilak's brilliance ends Rana's innings

The incident occurred in the 12th over of Jasprit Bumrah, when the MI speedster bowled a slower ball and Rana dabbed it towards the point region and scampered for a quick single. Tilak was alert as he charged towards the ball and hit a bullet throw towards the non strikers end to end Rana's innings of 33.

Rana's wicket also brought the downfall of Andre Russell, who departed soon for a quick-fire 24. The match at Eden Gardens was delayed due to rain, and when it started, MI started brilliantly by grabbing a couple of wickets. 

However, the arrival of Venkatesh Iyer changed the complexion of the match, before Mumbai once again pulled things back with quick-wickets to derail KKR's momentum.
