Tushar Deshpande broke the joint highest opening partnership in IPL history, when he got the prized wicket of Sai Sudharsan.

It was total carnage at the Narendra Modi Stadium, as both Sudharsan and Shubman Gill notched up their respective centuries and took the CSK attack to the cleaners. It was raining fours and sixes as every CSK bowler was taken apart in a six-hitting contest between the two GT batters.

The duo forged a 210-run opening stand, which is the joint highest opening stand in IPL, equalling the record held by Quinton de Kock and KL Rahul.

Sudharsan, known for his class and exquisite shots, reached his maiden IPL hundred in 50 balls, but the smile lasted for a couple of more minutes as Tushar Deshpande got his crucial wicket.

Sudharsan departs for 103

Deshpande bowled a slower delivery as Sudharsan went for a big hoick, and miscued it completely. The top-edge went straight into the hands of the fielder at covers as a dejected GT opener had to walk back.

One brought the downfall of another as Gill followed his opening partner back to the pavilion, after registering his first IPL century of the season.
