In the Legends Cricket League (LLC) 2023, Urbanrisers Hyderabad faced a controversial moment when their captain, Suresh Raina, was given out erroneously by the on-field umpire despite being not out. This incident unfolded during the match against Southern Super Stars on November 21 at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi.

During the 12th over of the second innings, Raina, accompanied by former Indian all-rounder Stuart Binny, faced a delivery from Afghanistan's Hamid Hassan. Unfortunately, the on-field umpire's misjudgment led to Raina walking off without opting for a review.

However, the subsequent replay revealed that the ball had pitched outside the field, and technically, Raina should not have been declared out. Nevertheless, Raina's dismissal had no bearing on the game's outcome, as Urbanrisers Hyderabad secured a 13-run victory, marking their first win in the Legends League Cricket.

Watch Raina's Dismissal:

The Southern Super Stars won the toss and chose to field, restricting Hyderabad to 143 in the first innings. Despite contributions from Martin Guptill (46) and quick knocks by Binny (23) and Yogesh Nagar (40), Hyderabad faced early challenges in their run chase.

Peter Trego dismissed opener Upul Tharanga in the second over, and Chris Mpofu cleaned up impact player Jesse Ryder in the following over. Despite a 40-run partnership between Dilshan Munaweera (34 off 27) and Shreevats Goswami (18 off 13), Pawan Suyal, who earned the player of the match award, made a crucial breakthrough in his first over.

Skipper Ross Taylor (12 off 11) lost his wicket to a poor delivery from impact player Pragyan Ojha, and Manvinder Bisla tried to maintain the required rate with 18 off 16 deliveries. After Bisla's departure, all-rounder Pawan Negi attempted to keep the flow of runs intact. Pawan Suyal (3/23) contributed with two wickets in his last spell, removing Rajesh Bishnoi and Negi at crucial moments. Suranga Lakmal tried to push the game forward with 11 in 14 deliveries, remaining unbeaten.

Despite their efforts, the Aaron Finch-led Southern Super Stars failed to chase the target, managing only 115 runs. Urbanrisers Hyderabad celebrated a 13-run victory, highlighting their success in the Legends League Cricket.
