In a surprising turn of events, Lucknow Super Giants are set to rope in Devdutt Padikkal ahead of the much-anticipated Indian Premier League (IPL) auctions. Before being signed by Rajasthan Royals (RR), the 23-year-old made waves in the IPL 2020 by performing incredibly well for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

Now, according to RevSportz, he is ready to make his move before the bidding war starts, expected to take place in Dubai on December 19.

After being acquired by RCB for INR 20 lakh ahead of the IPL 2019, Padikkal was benched for the entire season. Then, when he got an opportunity in the following edition, he batted tremendously, having aggregated 473 runs in 15 matches to eventually win the Emerging Player of the Season award.

He kept on doing the good work, tallying 411 runs in IPL 2021 before the Red and Gold brigade decided to release him for the mega auction.

After RCB's heroics, Rajasthan Royals paid a whopping INR 7.75 crore for Padikkal’s services. However, he failed to do the same for Sanju Samson & Co. in the following editions, amassing 376 at an average of 22.12 and 261 at 26.10, respectively. Thus, the inaugural edition’s champions have reportedly decided to release him, with LSG expected to potentially acquire him in a trade.

However, it is still unknown who will go the other way when Padikkal joins LSG.
