Steve Smith has been a revelation in the Major League Cricket (MLC) 2024. The Aussie batter, who was excluded from the T20 World Cup squad, has silenced his critics with breath-taking knocks in the tournament.

He showed his class once again in the finals of the MLC against the San Francisco Unicorns. Batting first, Smith blasted a quick-fire 52-ball 82 and propelled Washington Freedom to a commanding 207/5.

He played some delightful strokes which mesmerised the fans in USA. However, there was one particular shot which made everyone stand on their feet. He targeted the opposition bowler, Carmi le Roux, and smacked him for a gigantic six which landed on the stadium roof.

Carmi le Roux bowled a length ball on the stumps and it was an open invitation for Steve Smith to hit him. The Aussie batter shuffled across and heaved it way over the deep mid-wicket region as the ball touched the roof. Ricky Ponting, the head coach of Washington Freedom was in awe of his countryman as Smith looked all fired up.

Smith was the second highest run-getter in the MLC 2024. He amassed 336 runs in 9 matches, but most importantly, had a strike-rate of 148.67, including 21 sixes.
