Jonny Bairstow has been in poor form lately, both in internationals and franchise cricket, and the same is being seen in The Hundred 2024 where he has encountered two failures in as many matches. In the first game he scored 18 against Manchester Originals and now against Oval, he could score just 5 off 8 balls as Spencer Johnson got the better of him which was followed by an animated send-off.

It was the 22nd ball of the run-chase, and Spencer Johnson bowled a shortish delivery, outside off, angling across the right-hander. Jonny Bairstow also shuffled to his right and tried to cut it, but the ball was too close to him and he ended up getting an inside edge. 

The ball shattered the stumps and it was a big wicket for Oval Invincibles, who needed early wickets after posting just 113 on the board.

Spencer Johnson was pumped up after the wicket and came up with an angry roar on the face of Jonny Bairstow as he walked off in disappointment.

After the wicket of Bairstow, Welsh Fire kept losing wickets at regular intervals and were reduced to 51-5 on the 65th ball to put Welsh Fire in all sorts of trouble.
