In a gripping encounter at Grand Prairie Stadium, Dallas, Washington Freedom opted to bowl after winning the toss against Seattle Orcas in the Major League Cricket 2024.

Their decision proved decisive as they restricted Orcas to 124 runs, paving the way for a successful chase.

Right-arm pacer Lockie Ferguson starred with the ball, scalping four crucial wickets, supported by Netravalkar, who took three wickets. 

Despite a shaky start in their chase, Washington Freedom found stability through valuable contributions from Rachin Ravindra (26 runs), Lahiru Milantha (33* runs), and Obus Pienaar (31* runs).

However, the moment of the match belonged to Seattle Orcas' Cameron Gannon, who bowled a memorable delivery to dismiss Washington's skipper Steve Smith. 

In the 6th over, Gannon's delivery angled in towards off, catching Smith off guard as he attempted a forceful shot through the off-side.

The ball evaded Smith's bat, clipping the off bail and sending it flying. Smith departed for a quick 12 runs off 13 balls, leaving Freedom momentarily stunned.

Looking ahead, Seattle Orcas will square off against San Francisco Unicorns on July 15, while Washington Freedom prepares to face Los Angeles Knight Riders on July 14 in upcoming Major League Cricket fixtures.
