In the ongoing India-Zimbabwe T20I series, Washington Sundar has emerged as a promising replacement for Ravindra Jadeja. With Jadeja's retirement leaving a crucial spot open, Sundar's performance has been under the spotlight.

On July 10, Sundar delivered an impressive spell, taking 3 wickets for just 15 runs in his 4 overs, earning him the Player of the Match award in India's third T20I against Zimbabwe. His display of all-round abilities helped India secure a 2-1 lead in the 5-match series.

Sundar Comments on Replacing Jadeja

Washington Sundar expressed his determination to fill Ravindra Jadeja's shoes, emphasizing his commitment to giving his 100 percent in every match and training session.

"I need to do well where I am good at and what I am capable of, especially with my preparation. I need to give my 100 percent every single day. That's something that I have not compromised on.”

The 24-year-old all-rounder, who has shown his potential in both international and domestic cricket, aims to maintain his focus and confidence.

"It keeps me in the present and I am very confident as well. It's a great opportunity for me to play for India, and I am blessed with it.”

He highlighted the importance of consistent preparation and continuous improvement to ensure his place in the team.

"I need to keep my job consistently and keep preparing and keep getting better. That way everything will be taken care of.”

India's search for a dependable spin-bowling all-rounder seems promising with Sundar's recent performances.

While Axar Patel is also a contender for the role, Sundar's ability to deliver crucial performances with both bat and ball makes him a strong candidate.

The fourth T20I between India and Zimbabwe is scheduled for July 13, where Sundar will look to continue his impressive form.
