The 3rd Test between India and Australia is underway at the Gabba in Brisbane. The visitors won the toss and elected to field first. Meanwhile, the rain played a spoilsport, and the play was halted after Australia put 28/0 on the board.
Despite the rain threat, the stadium was jam-packed as the fans came in huge numbers to support their side. Meanwhile, a video has been doing rounds on the internet, where the crowd welcomed Mohammed Siraj with boos. Siraj came to bowl the second over of the match, and there were huge boos as soon as he took his run-up.
Why Is The Brisbane Crowd Booing Siraj?
In the 2nd Test between India and Australia at the Adelaide Oval, Siraj gave an angry send-off to local boy Travis Head, who played a 140-run knock. The send-off created a huge uproar as the fans were unhappy with the disrespect towards their local star.
The two stars players engaged in a heated exchange, following which the matter also escalated during the remaining days of the Test matches. Eventually, Siraj and Head resolved their differences, but the fans held a grudge against the Indian seamer.
Eventually, the ICC fined both the players, but Siraj had to pay extra. Besides the demerit points, the former RCB star bowler was also fined 20% of his match fees. Siraj's action has attracted mixed views from the internet as a section of them has supported the aggression, but the other side has bashed the Indian bowler for showing unnecessary aggression to Head, who played a century knock.
