It has been a frustrating morning for both India and Australia at the Gabba. There were predictions of rain on the first day of the Test match, and they came true as rain spoiled the first session of play.

The match started on time with Rohit Sharma winning the toss and electing to bowl first. However, just after 5 overs, the first spell of showers came up as the team walked back to their respective dugouts. The game resumed in a short period of time as Aussie openers, Usman Khawaja and Nathan McSweeney frustrated the Indian bowlers.

On a lively wicket, the Indian bowlers lacked the cutting-edge and in particular Mohammed Siraj, who was erratic in his lines and lengths as Khawaja easily negated him. The bowlers were a bit too short in their lengths and failed to churn out a wicket in the first hour before heavy rain arrived and the players once again rushed back to the dressing room.

India Vs Australia Weather Updates

The prediction is not good for the first day as it has gotten dark in Brisbane and there is rain predicted for the entire day.

As a matter of fact, rain showers are predicted for Sunday and Monday (Day 2 and Day 3), which means that the outcome of the contest will be heavily affected by it.

For India, the match is of utmost importance as they need to win their remaining three matches to qualify for the WTC finals. At the moment, the Indian side is at the third position, behind Australia and table toppers, South Africa.
