India's young batting sensation Shubman Gill had a memorable day with the bat, as he slammed a gorgeous fifty against England on day 3 of the ongoing Rajkot Test.

Gill's flamboyant half-century steadied the ship for India, helping them extend their lead in the second innings. After playing several delightful shots all around the park, Gill pulled Mark Wood for a six to complete his fifty.

The incident occurred in the 43rd over when Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal were dominating the English bowlers. After conceding a single on the first ball, Wood bowled a body-line delivery, which Gill pulled for a six over the deep square leg fence. With the glorious hit, the Punjab batter brought up his fifty, which he struck in 98 deliveries.

The half-century held significant importance for Gill, as he got out for a duck in the first innings of the Test match.

Earlier, India had a shaky start to their second innings, losing Rohit Sharma cheaply off Joe Root's bowling. However, the swashbuckling duo of Gill and Jaiswal took on the English bowlers, helping India claim the driving seat.

After completing his century, Jaiswal walked off the field due to a minor injury concern. As of writing, the hosts are racing towards a mammoth lead, placed at 189 for one, with Gill and Rajat Patidar unbeaten in the middle.
