Sri Lanka needed a special delivery to end the Rohit Sharma-Shubman Gill partnership, and Dunith Wellalage produced a magical delivery to bring Sri Lanka back in the contest.

Opting to bat first, Rohit and Gill were off to a flying start as they took the attack to the Sri Lankan bowling lineup. Both the batters continued from where they left against Pakistan and ensured that India once again got a solid opening start.

In no time, the two openers took India past the score of 50, and Sri Lanka were pushed on the back-foot early in the innings. However, an inspired bowling change by skipper Dasun Shanaka changed the complexion of the match.

In the very first over of Wellalage, the youngster took the all-important wicket of Gill and gave a ray of hope to his side. He made the ball talk as Gill was left shell-shocked.

The left-arm spinner gave a bit of air as the ball pitched on the middle stump and spun sharply to beat the outside-edge. Gill lost his balance as the ball went past the bat and knocked over the off-stump.

Wellalage didn't stop there as the spinner took the crucial wicket of Virat Kohli in his next over to push India on the back-foot.
