After large-scale backlash and scrutiny over subpar form, Shreyas Iyer finally silenced his critics with a composed half-century for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy final against Vidarbha. 

Shreyas Iyer has been caught in a whirlwind of criticism following his omission from the BCCI central contracts. 

He got injured during the India-England five-game Test series and was later dropped. Moreover, he allegedly refused to play domestic cricket even after being declared fit by the NCA.

That led to severe repercussions as the apex body chose to terminate his central contract alongside Ishan Kishan.

Meanwhile, after BCCI's whip, Shreyas Iyer was picked for Mumbai's Ranji Trophy squad for the knockout stage. However, a series of failures followed, further raising doubts about the batter's future.

He played his shots freely and slammed eight fours and two sixes to bring up his half-century. Owing to Iyer and Musheer's steady partnership, Mumbai's lead is nearly 400 runs as they inch closer to another Ranji Trophy title.
