In what has been a series of unfortunate dismissals for Shubman Gill, the ongoing second Test against England in Visakhapatnam saw the young Indian opener's form falter once more. Despite getting off to a promising start on Day 1, Gill's innings was cut short just before lunch, marking another missed opportunity to convert his start into a significant score.

IND vs ENG: Gill falls to Anderson before Lunch on Day 1

The incident unfolded in the 29th over, delivered by James Anderson, making a notable return to the England squad after sitting out the first match of the series. Anderson, leveraging his experience and precision, bowled a good length delivery, drawing Gill into a forward defense.

However, Gill could only manage to edge the ball, which found its way into the gloves of England's wicketkeeper Ben Foakes, who secured the catch without trouble. Shubman Gill's departure for 34 runs off 46 balls, featuring five boundaries, displayed a recurring vulnerability in his batting against Anderson.

This dismissal marked the fifth time Anderson has claimed Gill's wicket in seven innings, highlighting a challenging matchup for the Indian batsman who now averages an abysmal 7.80 against the seasoned English pacer.

Meanwhile, at the time of Gill's dismissal, India's scoreboard read 99/2 after 30 overs. The match saw a contrasting approach from Yashasvi Jaiswal, who opted for caution over his usual aggression.

This strategy paid dividends for Jaiswal, who scored a patient fifty off 89 deliveries, including six fours and a six. With Shreyas Iyer joining Jaiswal at the crease, the duo will look to build a partnership crucial for setting a formidable first-innings total, especially after India's decision to bat upon winning the toss.
