Having made his Test debut in 2021, he has played a total of eight Tests in India and has smashed 478 runs. 

Iyer averages 36.76 when it comes to playing in India and has hit one century and three half-centuries, which were enough to squeeze out a place for him in the middle-order of the Indian batting line-up after Pujara and Rahane's exclusion. With these numbers, he comes fifth on this list of best batting averages in Indian conditions since 2020.
