Shams Mulani's valiant knock came to an end as Harshit Rana got his prized scalp in the ongoing Duleep Trophy encounter between India A and India D at Rural Development Trust Stadium in Anantapur. The bowling all-rounder played a pivotal role in India A's remarkable comeback after a batting collapse. However, he missed out on a well-deserved hundred, with Harshit dismissing him at a crucial juncture of the game. 

The incident occurred during the 85th over of India A's first innings when Shams Mulani was trying to add some valuable runs with Khaleel Ahmed. However, India D skipper Shreyas Iyer's decision to persist with Rana at one end worked wonders for his side, as the ace speedster got rid of Mulani on his second delivery. 

After conceding a single off his first ball, Rana came around the wicket and bowled a good length delivery around the off stump. The ball came slightly into Mulani, forcing him to play at it. 


As the southpaw went for a half-hearted shot off his back foot, he only managed a thick outside edge, with the ball being taken safely by Atharva Taide at second slip. Thus, Mulani, well-poised to score a memorable Duleep Trophy ton, returned to the dugout as Rana's third victim. 

India D Lose Two Quick Wickets After Restricting India A To 290

Soon after dismissing Mulani, Rana got rid of Aaqib Khan, helping India D restrict the A team to 290 runs in their first innings. However, the Shreyas Iyer-led side had a shaky start to their innings, losing two early wickets. Khaleel Ahmed was India A's wrecker-in-chief with the ball, getting the important wickets of Shreyas Iyer and Atharva Taide. As of writing, India D were reeling at 24 for two, with Yash Dubey and Devdutt Padikkal batting on 7* and 13*, respectively.
