Ruturaj Gaikwad, captain of India C has once again proven his form in the ongoing Duleep Trophy 2024. In the 4th match of the tournament, Gaikwad secured a composed fifty against India B at Anantapur. He showcased his class and temperament amidst speculation over his recent exclusion from India's squad for the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh. 

Ruturaj Gaikwad's Significant Knock 

Ruturaj Gaikwad after being retired hurt for just four runs in the morning session earlier, the star batter made a determined comeback to steer India C to a strong total and struck several elegant strokes to bring up a crucial half-century. 

Earlier in the match India B captain Abhimanyu Easwaran won the toss and elected to bowl first. India C initially struggled and lost key wickets of B Sai Sudharsan and Rajat Patidar  dismissed by Mukesh Kumar and Navdeep Saini, respectively. 

Ishan Kishan played a pivotal role made a scintillating ton and formed a crucial partnership with Baba Indrajith. Then Ruturaj Gaikwad played a valiant knock and made 58 runs in 74 balls.  At the time of writing, India C are 389/6, Manav Suthar and Mayank Markande are present at the crease. 

Ruturaj Gaikwad Not Included In India's Squad Vs Bangladesh

Earlier this week, the BCCI announced a 16-member squad for the home Test series against Bangladesh, which will begin on September 19. The squad sees the return of senior players Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant, while Yash Dayal earned his maiden call-up to the national side. Akash Deep, another standout performer from the Duleep Trophy, has also been included in the squad.

Notably, Ruturaj Gaikwad, despite his leadership and strong performance for India C, was omitted from the Test squad, sparking conversations in cricket circles about the decision. His form in the Duleep Trophy, however, suggests that the star batter is eager to make a strong case for future opportunities with the national team.
