It turned out to be a professional, high-profile chase by the visiting Pakistan side against New Zealand in the third T20I of the ongoing series. However, what caught the eye was an hilarious incident of mis-fielding by Abbas Afridi at long-off.
Abbas Afridi Makes A Fielding Mess
During the third T20I between the Black Caps and the Pakistan side, the Kiwis were cruising with 175 on the board for the loss of seven wickets after the completion of 17 overs. With three overs remaining, Shaheen Afridi, who had dismissed Chapman, came back on to bowl his final over and only gave away eight runs in the first four deliveries.
However, the fifth delivery after the wide one, was a decent shot by left-hander Michael Bracewell to the long-off region which should have been a single or a double at most, but turned out to be a boundary courtesy of fielder Abbas Afridi's horrible fielding effort who let the ball go through his legs.
This moment wasn't taken very kindly by the bowler, Shaheen, who got rid of Allen, gave a proper stare to Abbas for not getting hold of the ball properly and giving away easy runs to the opposition when they were already under pressure.
With this kind of effort, Abbas was getting trolled on social media as people started calling him for being the nephew of former Pakistani bowler Umar Gul.
Nonetheless, despite this fielding disaster, New Zealand went on to score just 204 as they were bowled out in 19.5 overs with Mark Chapman scoring a brilliant 94. Meanwhile, Abbas with the ball gave just 24 runs in his 2.4 overs while picking up wickets of James Neesham and Jacob Duffy.
Hasan Nawaz Makes New Zealand Pay With A Sensational Effort In A Historic Chase
Despite giving away 204 runs to the New Zealand side, the Pakistan batters did not let the opportunity go as they launched a storm against the Kiwi bowlers, smashing boundaries at ease at the Eden Park in Auckland.
They made a mockery of the chase, finishing the game in just 16 overs with Hasan Nawaz putting up a once-in-a-lifetime show with 105* off just 45 deliveries, smashing 10 fours and seven sixes to help his side to victory by nine wickets with ample support from skipper Salman Agha (51*) and Mohammad Haris (41).
After the conclusion of the third T20I, the series is currently with New Zealand by 2-1 with two more T20Is to go.
