Despite not having a great time since the start of 2023, Babar Azam performed valiantly for Rangpur Riders in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

62, 37, 47, and 47 were his last four scores in the competition, and now he is preparing for the ninth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), where he will play for Peshawar Zalmi alongside superstars like Rovman Powell, Saim Ayub, Naveen-ul-Haq, and Noor Ahmad.

Performing at his home's elite franchise competition has alarming stakes, and Babar is fully aware of that. Thus, he has not wasted any time and is already working on getting back to his vintage form in Pakistan.

As seen in a video shared on social media, Babar ran like a cheetah while sprinting. Unlike players like Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja, he doesn't seem to be a quick runner between the wickets, but during the training session, he was clearly focused.

Under Babar’s captaincy, Peshawar finished fourth on the points table last year, having won five and lost as many in the league stage. Babar was among the highest run-getters, having aggregated 522 runs in 11 matches at a staggering average of 52.20. Only Mohammad Rizwan, who played a game extra than Babar, had scored more (550 in 12 matches) than him.

Peshawar defeated Islamabad United in Eliminator 1 last season, but failed to reach the final after suffering a four-wicket defeat to Shaheen Afridi-led Lahore Qalandars in Eliminator 2.
