During the second match of the 2024 Duleep Trophy between India C and India D, a unique moment caught the attention of fans. Sanju Samson, who was drafted into India D as a replacement for Ishan Kishan, was seen eating in the pavilion during the team’s innings.

The incident took place in Anantapur when the cameras zoomed in on Samson while India D captain Shreyas Iyer was at the crease.

Though a lighthearted moment, it quickly gained attention on social media. While the game continued, fans noticed Sanju Samson calmly having a snack in the background. The Duleep Trophy, known for its competitive intensity, had an unexpected off-field highlight thanks to this amusing incident.

Shreyas Iyer's Gets His Half-Century In Style

The match itself was full of drama and significant moments. In India D’s second innings, captain Shreyas Iyer shone brightly, scoring his 31st first-class half-century. He played a brisk knock of 54 runs off 44 balls before being dismissed by Anshul Kamboj, who was aided by an excellent catch from India C captain Ruturaj Gaikwad. Despite Iyer's efforts, India D struggled with their top-order batters faltering.

India D lead by 202 runs

Gaikwad's Team C, having won the toss and elected to bowl first, capitalized on the fragile top-order of India D. India D collapsed to 34/5, putting them in a precarious position. Axar Patel, however, provided a lifeline with a fighting knock of 86 runs, adding crucial partnerships with the lower-order batters, especially an 84-run stand with Arshdeep Singh. India D eventually managed 164 runs in their first innings.

In reply, India C managed to score 168, securing a slender lead of four runs. Harshit Rana was the pick of the bowlers for India D, with a brilliant four-wicket haul. Despite a small lead, Baba Indrajith’s 66 off 137 balls provided India C with some stability, but they failed to build a commanding lead.

India D came out stronger in their second innings, and at stumps, they were in a commanding position with a lead of 202 runs. Shreyas Iyer and Devdutt Padikkal led the charge with well-constructed half-centuries, putting their side in a favorable position heading into the final day.
