The Barbados Royals have been tasked with chasing a target of 177 in their 20 overs in the 13th match of the CPL 2024 at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados, against the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons.

Rovman Powell, the skipper of the Barbados Royals, won the toss ahead of the game and invited the Falcons to bat first. The Falcons got off to a good start with their openers, Brandon King and Justin Greaves stitching together a partnership of 55 runs in the first six overs.

Royals posted a competitive total carried by Billings and Greaves

After King's departure, Sam Billings joined Greaves in the middle and started from where the West Indian opener had left off. The duo of Greaves and Billings worked a partnership of 92 runs and propelled the Falcons towards a respectable total.

Justin Greaves held one end for the Falcons and scored a brilliant 61* off 52 balls. They did lose a few wickets towards the end of the innings, and as a result, a total that could have gone well past the 180 mark was restricted to 176/5 at the end of the 20 overs.

Falcons failed to grab de Kock's chance

Although the Falcons fell short by 10-15 runs of the total they could have achieved, it was a fighting total. The Royals needed a steady start to get close to the target. A seven-ball duck by Rahkeem Cornwall at the top of the order did not help the cause of the Royals.

The Falcons had a chance to put the Royals under further pressure with the wicket of in-form de Kock. However, a missed catch by Justin Greaves off Mohammad Amir's bowling gave the South African a lifeline, leaving the veteran Pakistan spinner visibly frustrated.

At the time of writing, Quinton de Kock is stil batting at 37 off 21 delveries. The Royals are staitioned at 73/1 in 9.3 overs.
