The Melbourne Cricket Ground crowd witnessed a cracker of a shot during the ongoing Australia versus Pakistan first ODI as Mohammad Rizwan took on brilliantly at Mitchell Starc, almost emulating India's Suryakumar Yadav.

Mohd. Rizwan, who replaced Babar Azam as the new skipper, came in to bat when Pakistan suffered two set-backs losing at the hands of the dangerous Mitchell Starc and were at 24/2. However, he tried his best to stabilise his team's innings while navigating the challenging conditions.

During his time at the crease, the 32-year-old right handed batter slammed a spectacular shot that almost reminded the spectators of India's T20 skipper and left them in awe. In the 27th over, Starc bowled a back-of-a-length delivery around the fifth stump; Rizwan looked as if he was expecting it as he got down on one knee and dispatched it straight over the fine leg for a maximum. Almost like a scoopish hook, a 79-m long six, the Pakistan skipper took the attack to Mitchell Starc.

Babar-Rizwan Gone; Pakistan In Danger

Eventually, Rizwan was robbed of a well-deserved century as he departed for 44 runs off 71 balls. Marnus Labuschagne and Josh Inglis partnered up to remove the skipper. Meanwhile, talking about the game, Australia, led by Pat Cummins, won the toss and opted to field first at the MCG.

A confident Pakistan faltered at the start as they lost two wickets early in the game. With the pace greatness of Starc, Saim Ayub was the first to depart, followed by Abdullah Shafique, who also returned. Although Babar Azam and Rizwan hoped to build a partnership, Adam Zampa pumped the break on their dreams by dismissing Babar for 37 runs.

At the time of writing, Pakistan are at 143/6 after 36 overs.
