Jacob Bethell is one of the rising stars in world cricket and was recently bought for 2.6 Crore in the IPL 2025 Mega Auction by RCB. He has scored runs for England across formats in the last few months while he is now plying his trade for Melbourne Renedgades in the 14th edition of  BBL.

He could not score substantially in the initial four games, but against Melbourne Stars on Saturday, he pulled his socks up with 49 off 36 balls. However, he could not get his maiden fifty in the competition, as Joel Paris got the better of him on the fifth ball of the 16th over.

Bethell Falls Short Of His Maiden IPL Fifty

It was a shortish delivery on middle and leg and Bethell made room to slog it wildly. He only managed a top edge though and the keeper Sam Harper took an easy catch to end a fantastic knock from the Englishman. Jacob Bethell hit two sixes and 4 fours in his knock and has shown the world once again why he is rated so highly.

Bethell's knock ensured that Melbourne Renegades get to a decent total in the first innings with likes of Jonathan Wells and Laurien Evans playing handy knocks as well. Peter Siddle and Joel Paris picked two wickets apiece and it would be intersting to see how Stars go about their run-chase.

Both teams need to take an upward flight on the points table as Stars are at the bottom with just one win while Renegades have won two matches.
