South African star Ryan Rickelton showcased his sensational form by smashing his maiden double century in the second Test against Pakistan at Newlands, Cape Town. The opener put on a brilliant display of batting, making sure to get the best out of his innings.

The milestone moment occurred during the 93rd over of South Africa's innings. Rickelton was on 199 when he punched a ball through the covers for a single, bringing up his double hundred. The crowd at Newlands erupted in applause, getting on their feet to appreciate his enthralling efforts.

Rickelton reached his double century off 266 balls, displaying immense concentration and skill. The left-hander celebrated the special moment by taking off his helmet and raising it on his bat, soaking in the cheers from the crowd. 

His remarkable innings made him the seventh batter to score a double century at the iconic Newlands ground.

South Africa Start Strong Vs Pakistan

South Africa made a solid start after opting to bat first. Captain Temba Bavuma led from the front, scoring an impressive 106 runs off 179 balls. However, other batters struggled to make a significant impact. Aiden Markram managed only 17 runs, while Wiaan Mulder and David Bedingham fell to Pakistan’s Mohammad Abbas.

Tristan Stubbs was dismissed for a duck by Agha Salman, adding to Pakistan’s breakthroughs. Despite these setbacks, Rickelton held the innings together with his exceptional knock.
