India's Asia Cup 2023 fixture against Nepal got underway on Monday (September 4) at Pallekele National Cricket Stadium, with the winner set to join Pakistan in the Super Four round. After Rohit Sharma asked them to bat first, Rohit Paudel's Nepal made a great start, posting 102/4 after 23 overs.

Things would have been even worse for India had Shardul Thakur and Ravindra Jadeja taken wickets in quick succession. Jadeja, coming to bowl his second over, bowled a flighted delivery outside the off-stump. With an angled bat, Bhim Sharki attempted a cover drive, but an inside edge caused him to take the ball onto the stumps.

All Indian players enjoyed the manner in which Jadeja got the wicket. The Indian all-rounder only conceded two runs in his first over, and immediately got the success in the following over.

Earlier in the game, Nepal openers Kushal Bhurtel and Aasif Sheikh got Nepal off to an excellent start. The pair raced to 65 runs in 9.5 overs without losing a wicket before Thakur and Jadeja provided the Men in Blue with much-needed breakthroughs.

At the time of writing, the Nepalese team has reached 102-4 after 23 overs, with Aasif Sheikh batting at 45*.
