Indian Under-19 fast bowler Raj Limbani delivered a much-needed breakthrough for his side in one of his return spells against Australia at the 2024 Under-19 World Cup final in Benoni. Up against a brewing partnership between half-centurion Harjas Singh and Australian number five Ryan Hicks, the Indian speedster trapped the latter in front of stumps during the 35th over of the innings.

Limbani’s timely breakthrough helped Team India scythe through Australia’s middle-order in the backend, as they slumped from 165-3 to 187-6 in a space of just six overs.

Earlier in the match, India’s Under-19 star Raj Limbani broke through the defence of Australian opener Sam Konstas in just his second over with the new-ball. Giving India an early advantage in the game, the speedster was once again employed by his captain Uday Saharan to break a threatening partnership between well-set batters Harjas Singh and Ryan Hicks during the backend of the Australian innings.

With Australia looking settled for a competitive total at 165-3 from 34 overs, Limbani trapped Hicks in front of stumps with a crafty nip-backer.

Raj Limbani has emerged as one of the more influential figures in India Under-19s setup at the ongoing 2024 World Cup in South Africa. The 19-year-old has snared eight wickets in the tournament from just five innings prior to the final, which including a match-winning spell of 3-60 against South Africa in the semis.

With his timely strikes against Australia Under-19 in the title clash at Benoni’s Willowmoore Park, Limbani has extended his tournament tally to 10 victims.
