AUS vs WI: Pooran unleashed his wrath with hattrick of sixes
Having barely settled at the crease with just two balls faced, he launched a ferocious assault on Australian pacer Jason Behrendorff, sending the ball sailing over the boundary for three consecutive sixes, sending the crowd into a frenzy.
The carnage began in the third over's second delivery, with Nicholas Pooran elegantly lofting Behrendorff's full-length ball for a magnificent six over extra cover. Not resting on his laurels, he faced the next delivery, a ball pitched around middle and leg.
Standing tall, Pooran whipped the ball over deep square leg, marking his second six in as many balls. The third in the sequence came off a shorter delivery around off, which Pooran powerfully clubbed over deep mid-wicket, completing a stunning hat-trick of sixes and firmly announcing his presence on the field.
Pooran’s hattrick of sixes came amidst a challenging chase for West Indies, who were tasked with reaching a massive target of 242 runs. This monumental total was set by Australia, buoyed by an outstanding century from Glenn Maxwell.
At the time of writing this article, West Indies have taken a dip in the water in the monumental chase, reaching 101/5 after 10 overs. With Rovman Powell and Andre Russell at the crease, the team will look to take the game deep, indicating a readiness to battle it out and aim for a victory.
