'Overrated, Most Useless': Fans Trash Suryakumar Yadav For Another Failure Vs PAK In T20 World Cup

Indian middle-order batter Suryakumar Yadav, often lauded for his aggressive batting and innovative stroke play, faced heavy criticism from fans after another disappointing performance against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup.

The high voltage T20 World Cup clash between arch rivals India and Pakistan commenced at New York amid multiple frustrating rain delays.

Pakistan won the toss and made the most of the overcast conditions to rattle India’s top order. Senior openers Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were sent back cheaply in the powerplay.

While Rishabh Pant anchored the innings from one end, the wicket-keeper batter unfortunately couldn’t get any help from the other side of the crease.

Suryakumar Yadav, India’s supposed dependable middle order batter, succumbed under pressure to get dismissed on 7 runs off 8 deliveries against Haris Rauf.

Haris Rauf cramped SKY with a fullish delivery, and the latter fell into the trap. He could only get the toe end of his bat and the ball landed safely into the hands of Amir at mid-off.

As India witnessed a collapse, fans on Twitter lashed out at Suryakumar Yadav for his repeated failure on the big stage, especially against Pakistan. In the past five innings played against the men in green, SKY has yet to surpass the 20-run mark.

Not only that, SKY’s form has been equally awful against quality teams in national colours. His extraordinary form in IPL is not getting translated on the big stages and hence the fans’ frustration reached a boiling point.

That being said, post Yadav’s wicket, the Indian side crumbled and were reduced to 100/7 by the end of 16 overs. While New York’s pitch hasn’t necessarily been a paradise for batters, the men in blue need 40-50 more runs from here to reach a fighting total.
