The SMAT 2024 has been quite an entertaining so far with plenty of Indian superstars donning the jerseys of their respective domestic teams. Mumbai is one of the star-studded units with both young and experienced international superstars and two of them are Shreyas Iyer and Ajinkya Rahane.

Shreyas Iyer is leading Mumbai and and started off the season with a bang, hitting a century and fifty. He has got good starts after that too, but in the a pressure knockout game while chasing a massive target of 222, the right-handed batter failed and departed for just five. Dipesh Parwani got the better of him on the final delivery of the 9th over, and it was a shortish delivery outside off.

Shreyas went for a wild slog, but did not time his shot to perfection and ended up hitting it straight to the long on fielder Parth Rekhade who grabbed an easy catch. Ajinkya Rahane though is batting brilliantly this season and has notched up his fourth fifty of the season. He has been bought by KKR in the recent IPL auction and is likely to replace Shreyas Iyer as KKR captain.

After Shreyas, Suryakumar Yadav also could not do much and fell for just 9 off seven balls as Vidarbha keep chipping in with wickets in a crucial Quarter final encounter.

For Vidarbha, Atharva Taide scored fifty at the top of the order while Apporv Wankhede and Shubham Dubey provided great finishing touches to put themselves in a great position against a strong Mumbai unit.
