During the North Group T20 Blast 2024 match between Derbyshire and Leicestershire at Edgbaston, Birmingham, an emotional moment captured the hearts of many. 

In the third over, Leicestershire's right-arm fast bowler Patrick Brown dismissed Derbyshire opener Rishi Patel on the second ball. 

Brown’s celebration was deeply touching; he removed his T-Shirt to reveal another shirt underneath, displaying the name "Josh Baker" and his jersey number 33.

This heartfelt tribute was for Worcestershire spinner Josh Baker, who tragically passed away at the age of 20, just a month prior. Baker's sudden death came as a shock to the cricketing community.

The young talent had played for England Under-19 and was in action for Worcestershire’s second XI less than 24 hours before his untimely passing.

Josh Baker began his professional career in 2021 and quickly became an influential figure for Worcestershire. Over his career, he played in 47 matches and took 70 wickets, making significant contributions to his team.

Just last year, Baker signed a new three-year contract with Worcestershire. In 2023, he participated in five Championship matches, playing a vital role in Worcestershire's promotion from Championship Division Two.

Baker's death has left a profound void in the cricketing community, and Patrick Brown's tribute during the T20 Blast match was a poignant reminder of the young cricketer’s impact and the deep loss felt by his peers and fans alike.
