A tragic new from England has left the cricketing community in mourning, as a promising talent has been lost. 

Josh Baker, the 20-year-old left-arm spinner for Worcestershire's County team, has tragically passed away. However, the club has not yet disclosed the cause of his death.

Baker began his professional career three years ago in 2021 and swiftly became one of the team's influential figures. He played in 47 matches for his team and took 70 wickets. His untimely departure leaves a profound void in the cricketing community.

Young England sensation passes away

Last year, Josh Baker inked a fresh three-year deal, and in 2023, he participated in five Championship matches, contributing to Worcestershire's promotion from Championship Division Two. 

Worcestershire Chief Executive, and Former English Spinner, Ashley Giles spoke about Josh Baker's Tragic Passing.

"Josh was much more than a team-mate; he was an integral part of our cricket family. We will all miss him terribly. All our love and prayers go out to Josh’s family and friends," Giles said.

The club statement highlights that Josh Baker's impact extended far beyond his skills as a spin bowler. It was his vibrant spirit and infectious enthusiasm that endeared him to everyone he met. 

Pakistan spinner Usama Mir, set to rejoin Worcestershire, along with numerous other players, has expressed condolences for the loss of this young player.
