On Day 4 of the second Test between India and Bangladesh in Kanpur, India fans held their breath as Virat Kohli, still striving to make a mark in Test cricket after a prolonged slump, narrowly avoided being run out. This moment occurred during India's first innings when Kohli, having just come to the crease, was nearly sent back to the pavilion.

The incident occurred after Shubman Gill was dismissed for 39 runs, with Shakib Al Hasan taking his second wicket. Kohli, stepping in with high hopes following an underwhelming performance in the first Test in Chennai, faced a challenging moment in the 19th over of the match.

Khaled Ahmed was bowling, and the right-handed batter attempted a risky single after edging a length ball onto his pads. Khaled, in no time gathered the ball, and he aimed an underarm throw at the stumps but missed. Kohli, who had already resigned himself to being out, was granted a lifeline.

Soon after the lifeline, Rishabh Pant hugged Virat Kohli and apologised for the miscommunication that nearly cost India one of its premier players.

Bangladesh Bundle Out For 233 In Their First Innings

Bangla Tigers posted 233 in their first innings, while they struggled with their batting lineup despite Mominul Haque’s unbeaten 107. Rain disrupted play on Day 2 and Day 3, forcing both teams to miss valuable time on the field. When play resumed on Day 4, India’s bowling attack made quick work of Bangladesh’s tail, with their pacers leading the charge.

In response, India started off nicely; however, Rohit Sharma departed after scoring 23 runs. Bangladesh not only removed the Skipper, but they also removed Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill. At the time of writing, India are trailed by 16 runs.
