The Markhors and Stallions have locked horns in the ongoing Champions T20 Cup 2024 for the very first time and the chart toppers on the point table have carved out an impressive fight for the crowd at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on December 12. However, the Quetta Gladiator's star, Khawaja Nafay has pulled off an exceptional catch behind the stumps that put on a disappointing show for the dismissed Stallions' skipper Mohammad Haris.

Khawaja Nafay Grabs A Stunner To Bag Stallions Skipper

The young Pakistan cricketer Khawaja Nafay, who is usually pretty good with the bat in the hand also showed his prowess with the keeping gloves in the 7th match of Champions Cup. In the last ball of the 10th over, Mohammad Sarwar Afridi ran over the wicket to pitch a short length delivery that moved in towards the middle stump. Haris attempted to cut the ball towards the third man. However, the ball didn't hit the bat properly and sailed within the reach of Nafay behind the stumps.

Showing quick reflexes, Haris swiftly moved his body towards the direction of the ball and gloved it stretching himself in the air. After successfully catching the ball, Nafay couldn't contain his excitement and celebrated the pick.

Markhors Floors Stallions To Climb Top Spot In Champions Cup Table

A single catch sometimes turns the tide of the match and it seems Nafay has done it for the Markhors as Stallions crumbled after Haris was gone. After they were given a target of 171 runs, Stallions opener Maaz Ahmed Sadaqat played a blistering knock of 82 runs off 53 balls which became the lone spot light for the whole team.

However, after Yasir Khan (17) and Haris (22) were gone, Sadaqat too followed in the 16th over. Stallions were still in the game with a modest run on board, however, Nisar Ahmad snared through crucial wickets of Hussain Talat and Mohammad Mohsin II that broke Stallion's confidence.

The match was dragged to a nail-biting last over when STA needed 19 runs to win. Though Taimur Khan attempted with one audacious six and four off the last two balls, Stallions fell short of 3 runs. With this win, Markhors moved to the top of the points table with 3 wins in 3 games.
