The Indian team were cruising along nicely against the Kiwis in the 3rd Test, when disaster struck in the form of Yashasvi Jaiswal. The talented batter was looking compact, but he played a rash shot and it led to his demise.

After the wicket, the fans expected Virat Kohli to come out to bat, but the Indian side sprung a surprise as they sent in Mohammed Siraj as the nightwatchman, but the decision back-fired immediately as the new DSP was trapped lbw on the very first ball he faced.

The umpire immediately raised his finger, but Siraj did the unthinkable as he boldly took the DRS on a delivery which was clearly striking the middle stump. Ajaz Patel bowled a fuller length ball on the middle and leg as the ball turned away and copped a blow on the back leg. The review could have been saved, but Siraj decided to waste it.

India in deep trouble at stumps on Day 1

The Indian bowlers roared back strongly after the Kiwis had a strong start. Courtesy of Ravindra Jadeja's fifer, India knocked over the Kiwis for a paltry 235. In reply, India lost Rohit Sharma early for 18.

Jaiswal and Shubman Gill had a brief partnership but Jaiswal's erratic shot ended his innings, followed by Virat Kohli's wild run-out as the veteran batter was dismissed for 4 off 6.

The Kiwis plucked 3 late wickets as India are 86/4 at the end of the Day's play and they still trail by 149 runs as Gill is fighting a lone battle in the middle and is batting at 31.
