The on-going third and final Test between India and New Zealand has once again stirred troubles for the home-team, or rather Kiwi pacer Matt Henry, who had the last laugh after removing Indian skipper Rohit Sharma on Day 1 at his home-ground Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Rohit Sharma's Form Causes Troubles

Rohit, who has already been criticised immensely for both his performance with the bat as well as his captaincy, departed for a low score of 18 runs off 18 balls. In the last five innings, he has only scored 80 runs raising the eyebrows of many.

In the 7th over, the 37-year-old right hander faced a back of a length delivery around off by Matt Henry. Rohit rocked deep and looked to work the ball in the leg side however once again luck was not on his side as he got squared up since the ball took the outside edge and travelled straight towards the slip region.

Captain Latham, stationed comfortably at the third slip took a flying catch. With this Matt Henry once again succeeded in taking his wicket as Rohit was forced to walk back to early on.

India Restricts New Zealand To 235 But A Big Challenge Awaits

Tom Latham won the toss and chose to bat first at Wankhede Stadium, however New Zealand's innings began with a setback as Devon Conway fell for just four runs, thanks to Akash Deep's early breakthrough.

Latham and Will Young then steadied the ship, forging a 44-run partnership until Washington Sundar bowled Latham for 28, disrupting their momentum. Sundar continued to shine on a helpful pitch, dismissing Rachin Ravindra cheaply for five runs.

Young played a commendable innings, scoring 71 runs before being taken out by Ravindra Jadeja. Jadeja's exceptional performance included claiming his 14th Test fifer as he helped dismantle New Zealand's batting lineup for 235 runs in only 66 overs.

Then, Indian side began their innings, with Rohit and Yashasvi Jaiswal coming out to the crease. However, after losing the captain, Shubman Gill joined the left-handed star in the middle. At the time of writing, India are at 35/1.
