Former Australia captain and legend Ricky Ponting is renowned for his astute cricketing intellect. Currently, he serves as the mentor for the Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League, showcasing his profound understanding of the game.

Meanwhile, the Big Bash League got a dose of Ricky Ponting magic in the commentary booth. During the Hobart Hurricanes vs. Melbourne Stars clash, the Australian giant dropped a commentating bomb that became reality on the field.

It all happened in the first innings when Nikhil Choudhary was at the crease, facing Nathan Coulter Nile's bowling. Just before the 17.3rd delivery, Ponting predicted that Coulter Nile would drag the length back and take the pace off, and that was exactly what happened.

The fast bowler opted for a back-of-the-length delivery, maintaining a slow pace. Nikhil Choudhary attempted a straight drive but ended up with a leading edge. Captain Glenn Maxwell, positioned at mid-off, seized the opportunity, ensuring a secure catch.

Here’s what exactly Ricky Ponting had said on air:

"He'll drag the length back now, Coulter-Nile, take the pace off. It's what he does so well here at the MCG.”

As for the match, the Melbourne Stars won the toss and chose to field. The Hobart Hurricanes, batting first, posted a mammoth total of 187 runs on the scoreboard, losing eight wickets. Openers Matthew Wade and Ben McDermott were the leading run-scorers, contributing 63 and 50 runs respectively.
