The shortest format of the game offers each set of emotions during the game. In almost every T20I game, new records are being created, while some get bettered. However, there are some records of which no player would wish to be a part, but considering the risks being taken in modern-day cricket, some bowlers go for too many runs, while some batters lose their wickets in order to play aggressively.

Ironically, Rohit Sharma, who has the most T20I centuries under his name, has climbed up in the rank of an unwanted record of most ducks. Interestingly, the batters who end up losing their wickets without getting off the mark, have a similar kind of aggressive approach.

Here at OneCricket, we take a look at five batters who have encountered the embarrassment of T20I ducks the most number of times among the full-member nations.

Paul Stirling - 13 Ducks

The Irish cricketer and also the T20I captain of the Ireland team, Paul Stirling is one of the most furious cricketers in the world, especially in the shortest format of the game. Having featured in 134 T20I games for Ireland, Paul is one of the top scorers in the shortest format with 3438 runs, including one century and 23 half-centuries.

Being an opener is one tough job in the T20Is. Despite having a truckload of runs under his belt, Paul Stirling features on the top, when it comes to the most ducks in the T20 Internationals. On the other hand, he also features in the list of players with most sixes having hammered 123 sixes in the shortest format. In 133 T20I innings, Stirling has to walk off the field 13 times without opening his account and troubling the scorers.

Rohit Sharma - 12 Ducks

One of the most fearless cricketers in the world and also the one, who has the maximum number of centuries in the shortest format, Rohit Sharma is a force to reckon with. He is currently the most capped T20I player with 150 games under his belt. Having made his debut in 2007, Rohit has broken many records and unfortunately, he features in an unwanted record for most ducks in the T20Is.

Rohit is also the second-highest run-scorer in the T20I format with 3853 runs. Not only he has the most number of centuries but also the most number of sixes in the T20Is and across formats as well. In the last two innings, Rohit has not troubled the scorers and recorded back-to-back zeroes, which took him to the second spot with 12 ducks.

Kevin O'Brien - 12 Ducks

Kevin O'Brien is the second Irish player to be featured in this list of most ducks in the T20Is. Undoubtedly, he was one of the stalwarts of Irish cricket and had an impressive set of all-round skills. The right-hander featured in 110 T20I games for his nation and went on to score 1973 runs, with the help of one century and five half-centuries.

Kevin, who also held the record of smashing the fastest ton in the ODI World Cup, which got broken in 2023 by Aiden Markram, was not so great in the shortest format of the game. In 103 innings, where he got the opportunity to add some runs for the team, he recorded 12 ducks, which becomes the reason for his feature in this unwanted record.

Soumya Sarkar - 11 Ducks

The young Bangladeshi cricketer, Soumya Sarkar, who is still trying to build his career at the international level features in the fourth spot, when it comes to most ducks in the T20Is with 11 zeroes in his career so far. There's no doubt, when it comes to his abilities and all-round skills, he has a lot more to display in the coming years.

The southpaw has featured in 75 T20Is so far and has hammered over 1200 runs, including five half-centuries. Due to some poor performances, he has been in and out of the team, but considering his abilities, he can soon be seen back in runs and winning games for the Bangladesh team.

Regis Chakabva - 11 Ducks

The wicket-keeper batter from Zimbabwe, Regis Chakabva has not been able to get a hold of the shortest format and is not being included in the current set-up of Zimbabwe. He has been a part of the Zimbabwe team for 49 T20Is and in 11 out of these 49 occasions, Regis failed to score even a single run.

His highest score in the shortest format at the international level is 48 and he has played with a below-par average of just 14 throughout his T20I career. With 11 ducks in T20Is, he is fifth on the list of players with the most ducks in the shortest format of the game.
