India left-arm spinner Axar Patel showcased his excellence once again in the ongoing T20I series against Afghanistan, picking up 2 wickets for a mere 17 runs in his 4 overs spell during the 2nd match held in Indore on Sunday, January 14.

With this, Axar Patel has achieved a significant milestone by completing 200 wickets in T20s. He has also become the 11th Indian bowler to achieve this feat in T20 cricket. Axar took his tally in T20 internationals to 49 wickets in 52 matches for India.

The India all-rounder reached this milestone when he picked up the crucial wicket of half-centurion Gulbadin Naib during a game-changing spell in the 2nd T20I at the Holkar Stadium against Afghanistan. Earlier, he also dismissed Ibrahim Zadran.

Axar was brought into the attack in the closing over of the powerplay, and the Indian spinner wasted no time, claiming the wicket of captain Ibrahim Zadran with a well-executed flighted delivery that struck the off-stump.

Axar's wicket set Afghanistan on the back foot after losing aggressive opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz early to Ravi Bishnoi. The Indian spinners did the job for skipper Rohit Sharma, who decided to field after winning the toss in his 150th T20 international.

Axar Patel then pulled off a game-changer by picking the crucial wicket of Gulbadin Naib in the 12th over. Naib, the former ODI captain of Afghanistan, seemed solid with 57 runs off 34 balls.

However, Axar's cleverly bowled slower delivery fooled Naib, who ended up smashing it straight into Rohit Sharma’s hands at mid-wicket.
