The third day of the fourth Test between India and Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground faced an unexpected hurdle—rain. The match, which had seen smooth progress during the first two days, was interrupted by a sudden drizzle, forcing the players off the field.

India were in a tricky situation, having lost seven wickets for just 221 runs in their first innings. But all-rounders Nitish Reddy and Washington Sundar stepped up, forming a crucial partnership to pull India out of trouble. Their solid play helped India reach 326 for seven by the time tea was taken.
In the post-lunch session, India scored 82 runs, and the 8th-wicket partnership between Reddy and Sundar had already added 105 runs. Reddy has been particularly impressive, hitting some stunning shots all around the MCG. He has scored 85 runs so far and is just 15 runs away from a well-deserved century. Sundar, who was specially included in the playing XI, has played a patient knock of 40 runs off 115 balls, showing great composure in tough conditions.
