Nicholas Pooran is certainly one of the best T20 batters going around at the moment. The left-handed batter was the heart of the side in the T20 World Cup 2024, and continued the domination in the ongoing T20I series against South Africa.

Pooran dominates South African bowlers

In the first T20I of the series, at the Brian Lara Cricket Stadium, Pooran was at his imperial best as he steered the Windies team past the winning line. He slammed 65 off 26 deliveries, and made a mockery of the target set by the Proteas.

The highlight of his knock was the effortless six which he struck against Bjorn Fortuin. The left-arm spinner was the perfect match-up for Pooran, who waited for the bowler to miss his line and length. The Proteas spinner bowled an off-break on the stumps and Pooran was ready for the task as he cleared the front-leg, and with utmost ease cleared the long-off fence for a six.

Stubbs takes Proteas to decent total

Talking about the match, South Africa batted first, and lost 3 quick wickets as the Windies bowlers were on top.

However, star batter, Tristan Stubbs (76) and Patrick Kruger (44) resurrected the innings with crucial contributions with the bat.

For the Windies, Matthew Forde was the pick of the bowlers, as he scalped 3 for 27 to dent South Africa's aspirations. The target of 175 was easily chased by the Windies, as they only lost 3 wickets and chased it down inside 18 overs.
