Shikhar Dhawan has officially announced his retirement from international cricket today, which brought to an end of a remarkable career that saw him become one of India's most consistent and stylish white-ball openers. 

At the age of 38, Dhawan, leaves the international stage with an impressive record, having accumulated 10,867 runs across 269 appearances, including 24 centuries and 44 half-centuries. His last appearance for India was in an ODI against Bangladesh in December 2022.

Shikhar Dhawan, popularly known as 'Gabbar' expressed deep gratitude towards his family, fans, and coaches for their support throughout his career. Reflecting on his journey, he stated that he has no regrets and cherishes the many memorable moments he experienced while representing India. 

Although retiring from international cricket, Dhawan hinted at continuing his involvement in the sport through league cricket, particularly the IPL, where he has been a prominent figure.

Shikhar Dhawan's Impressive  Career 

Known for his flamboyant stroke play and reliability at the top of the order, Dhawan was a key figure in India's batting lineup over the past decade. 

He played 34 Tests and made 2315 runs at an average of 40.61 with 7 centuries and 5 fifties. In ODIs, he scored 6793 runs at an average of 44.11, including 17 centuries and 39 fifties. In T20Is, he added 1759 runs to his name, at an average of 27.92 with 5 half-centuries.

Dhawan's contributions, particularly in ICC tournaments and bilateral series, have left an indelible mark on Indian cricket. 

His graceful yet aggressive batting style, coupled with his ability to perform in high-pressure situations, will be fondly remembered by fans and the cricketing fraternity alike.
