Age might be catching up with Bangladesh wicket-keeper, Mushfiqur Rahim but his reflexes certainly aren't showing any signs of slowing down.

BAN vs AFG: Mushfiqur Rahim's catch sent Ibrahim Zadran packing for 75

The 36-year-old produced a moment of magic during the high-octane Asia Cup 2023 clash against Afghanistan on Sunday.

In a game that has seen runs galore, Afghanistan opener, Ibrahim Zadran was steering his team towards a challenging 335-run target set by Bangladesh. Zadran was in his elements, scoring a crucial 75 runs off just 74 balls, providing the stability Afghanistan dearly sought. However, Rahim had other plans.

It was the third delivery of the 28th over when Hasan Mahmud delivered a short-pitched ball outside off. Attempting to punch it off the back foot, Zadran got an outside edge. What followed was nothing short of wicketkeeping brilliance.

Displaying agility that would rival any youngster, Rahim dived full-length to his right and pulled off a spectacular one-handed catch with his right glove, ending Zadran's fighting innings.

Coming to the game, Afghanistan's chase saw its shares of peaks and troughs. The early setback came from Shoriful Islam, who sent back opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz, for just 1 run off seven balls.

Rahmat Shah and Zadran then combined forces, adding a valuable 78 runs for the second wicket before Taskin Ahmed ended the former's resistance at 33 runs.

The partnership between captain Hasmatullah Shahidi and Zadran seemed promising, contributing 52 runs. However, with Zadran's dismissal post Rahim's magnificent catch, Afghanistan's pursuit of the target looks steep.

At the time of writing this article, Afghanistan’s scoreboard read 176/3 after 31 overs with their fate hung in the balance. With Shahidi at 42 and Najibullah Zadran settling in at 17, the team needs another 159 runs off 96 balls at nearly 10 runs per over.
