The ongoing first Test between India and Bangladesh witnessed an unexpected moment as Rohit Sharma and Co missed a golden opportunity to take their second wicket of the day earlier. If the team had taken the review, Mohammed Siraj would have bagged his first wicket and removed Zakir Hasan for just two runs.

On the fifth ball of the fourth over, Siraj bowled a full-length delivery shaping into the leg stump. Zakir missed the flick on the inside edge and got hit on the front pad. Siraj roared loudly with confidence, pleading for an LBW. However, there was not enough support from the team, as even umpire Rod Tucker shook his head in denial.

Discussion began between Siraj, Rishabh Pant, and Rohit Sharma. Rohit said that height is not the factor; however, Pant felt that it missed the leg stump, after which Captain Sharma decided not to take the review. Later, as the replays showed the ball tracking, the ball did hit the wickets, and it was three reds. Had Rohit Sharma taken the review, Zakir would have departed.

Siraj's disappointment was palpable after this decision robbed him of a wicket.

India Dominate Morning Session, Bangladesh Struggles with the Bat

India dominated the morning session, reducing Bangladesh to 26/3 after posting 376 runs. The Indian seamers were on point from the start, making life difficult for the visitors, who now trail by 350 runs. The day began with Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin resuming their innings, but Taskin Ahmed struck early, dismissing Jadeja for 86 and ending their impressive 199-run partnership.

Ashwin added just 11 runs to his overnight score before being dismissed for 113, while Hasan Mahmud wrapped up the innings with a five-wicket haul, becoming the first Bangladeshi bowler to achieve this feat in India.

India then quickly made their mark with the ball. Jasprit Bumrah dismissed Shadman Islam for two in the first over, and Akash Deep claimed two wickets in quick succession, including Mominul Haque for a golden duck. Bangladesh ended the session at 26/3, with Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mushfiqur Rahim at the crease.

At the time of writing, Bangladesh are at 40/4.
